Overview

Established in August 2011, GS Donghae Electric Power has been putting its utmost and undivided efforts to contribute to the stable energy supply for domestic power market and to the sustainable development of national economy.

In accordance with the 5th Basic Plan of Long-Term Electricity Supply and Demand by the Korean government, GS Donghae Electric Power has been constructing the Bukpyeong power plant with 1,190MW(2 units of 595MW) in Gangwon-do. Scheduled to be completed in 2016, it will be the very first private-sector base load thermal power plant in Koera.

Bukpyeong power plant is planning to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and coal use for electricity generation by adopting advanced Ultra Super Critical technology to apply much higher pressure and temperature than existing plant. In addition, it will be constructed by applying the most energy-efficient and eco-friendly ways currently available to attain sustainable growth in harmony with nature.
