Affiliates' Efforts
for the Environment

In response to climate change, GS Holdings is actively reducing carbon emissions and conserving resources. We apply our three-tier growth strategy, “Reduce, Improve, Innovate” across our holdings as we continuously invest in new eco-friendly businesses.

  • GS Caltex is developing sustainable
    products

GS Caltex produces eco-friendly composite resins using waste plastics. The material is widely used as a component for automobile and home appliances. Recycling waste plastics into composite resins can reduce 61,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year, equivalent to planting 9.03 million pine trees.

  • GS Retail is improving energy efficiency in stores

GS Retail installed a remote store management system in more than 10,000 GS25 convenience stores, saving more than 12 billion KRW. GS Retail is improving energy efficiency by increasing the renewable energy in stores and collaborating with Korea Energy Agency.

  • GS E&C is investing in the prefabrication business

GS E&C has started a prefabrication modular construction business to reduce construction waste and emissions by half compared to the existing construction method. GS E&C acquired prefabrication companies Danwood and Elements in 2020.

  • GS Caltex issued Green Bonds

GS Caltex issued Green Bonds to install pollution reduction and energy-efficient facilities in the Yeosu Complex. GS Caltex will continue investing in facilities related to the environment.

  • GS Retail is developing products that are easier to recycle

GS Retail is developing products that are easier to recycle, such as label-free bottled water and biodegradable lunch boxes. GS Retail is reducing paper use through mobile flyers and e-receipts and actively carrying out resource recycling campaigns.

  • GS E&C started a smart aquaculture farm business

GS E&C is working with GS Inima and Singapore PUB to conduct international joint research to commercialize a technology that reduces energy generated by seawater desalination facilities by more than 20%. We plan to build an aquaculture farm, protect the aquatic ecosystem, and distribute safe seafood.
